Catherine Cherry, who headed the St. Luke’s Millenium Banner project, is a longtime parishioner who serves as minister of communion at the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass. A member of the now defunct Order of Service, she trained as a spiritual director at Montreal’s Ignatian Spirituality Centre and holds Masters degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Theology.
Catherine has enjoyed careers as an elementary, high school and Cegep teacher; a psychotherapist; and as a spiritual community animator in schools in Montreal. Following her retirement this coming spring, she plans to enlarge her practice as an individual, couple and family therapist, give workshops, and devote more of her time to spiritual direction.
The design of St. Luke’s banner and the implementation of it are but one example of Catherine’s ability to draw the artistic creativity out of a whole group of people.
